For Patients

What happens after my Doctor sends "The Weight Clinic" a referral?

Step 1: Referral

Once we receive your referral, sit back and relax — we’ll contact you within two weeks to schedule your initial consultation. Please allow up to 2 hours for this appointment, and plan your time accordingly.

Step 2: Appointment Prep

You will receive a text message with a link to an intake form 24 to 48 hours before your appointment. Please complete this form prior to arriving at our clinic to ensure you are seen on time. The form takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. Please check if your insurance covers these medications:

For non-diabetic patients:

Wegovy (DIN: 02528509)

Saxenda (DIN: 02437899)

Contrave (DIN: 02472945)

For patients with diabetes:

Ozempic (DIN: 02471477)

Mounjaro (DIN: 02541076)

Contrave (DIN: 02472945)

Step 3: The Program

During your visit, the doctor will assess your health and provide a personalized meal plan. Medication may be prescribed if deemed necessary.

Step 4: Follow-up

Monthly regular follow-ups require patients to maintain a food journal and attend progress checks to stay on track. Blood work is typically done every 6 to 12 months, depending on your progress. Follow-up appointments take between 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the complexity of your case.

The medical appointments with our obesity physicians is covered by OHIP.

We also see IFH patients.

The cost of medications in Ontario is not covered by OHIP. However, many insurance plans now include coverage for obesity medications.

Not all prescribed medications are automatically covered by your drug plan. To confirm your eligibility for coverage, please contact your insurance company. In some cases, your insurance plan may require a prior authorization form to be completed.

If you would like us to complete this form on your behalf, there is a $45 fee, as this is a non-OHIP covered service. Payment can be made in person with cash at our clinic or via e-transfer

Weight loss results are individualized and depend on factors such as age, gender, family history, medical history, and medications, among others. Our goal is to help patients find their BEST WEIGHT.

Best weight refers to the weight at which an individual feels healthy, comfortable, and confident in their body. It takes into account not just numbers on a scale but overall well-being, lifestyle, and personal goals. It’s a sustainable weight where a person feels their best physically, mentally, and emotionally.

You will NOT be given a personalized meal plan to follow. However, you will be provided with guidelines on what to eat and what to avoid to help you achieve and optimize your weight loss journey.
